Vientiane is the charming, but dare I say, fairly dull capital city of Laos. It’s clean and there is a prominent French influence in town, meaning lots of French bakeries and cafes, but that’s about it.
There is a night market that pops up every night on the boardwalk, selling cheap clothing and souvenirs. There’s also a very lively food scene in town, especially in Western delicacies.
It’s evident there is a large expat community in Vientiane, with all the national consulates homed here. The food and entertainment scene really caters to this demographic.
Seeing there were not a lot of activities for me to partake in, I took my visit to Vientiane as a time to relax and to restock my travel needs. I also ended up catching a new Hollywood film and dropping in on a Muay Thai kickboxing class.
