If you’re looking to hit the beautiful coast of Vietnam, but want to go somewhere not completely flooded with tourists, Phan Rang – Thap Cham can be the place.
I decided to visit this city instead of Nha Trang since all the feedback I got from other travellers didn’t really paint Nha Trang as a place I’d enjoy – with big resorts, lots of restaurants and a major clubbing and bar scene.
Phan Rang – Thap Cham is actually two cities, located so close to each other, that it’s basically one. There are still a couple luxurious beach front resorts and locals still enjoy visiting this area, but the crowd is completely manageable. In fact, when we arrived in the middle of the week, we were the only tourists there.
Of course with a small tourist scene, there weren’t a lot of restaurants or attractions, but who really needs that when you have a beautiful stretch of sandy beach at your disposal?
Nearby you can also visit the Thap Cham Poklonggarai Tower and see the local fishing village. Neither are very exciting, but still neat to see.
